PARIS — The French government will be spending 53% of its civil space budget in the next three years on national, bilateral and international missions conducted outside the 22-nation European Space Agency (ESA), and a maximum of 47% as part of ESA programs.
The figures are in keeping with French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne’s Sept. 18 declaration that France will increase its space investment for the period 2023-2025, to reach 9 billion euros ($9 billion). That’s a 24% increase from the 2020-2022 period.
