PARIS— Fixed and mobile satellite service provider Viasat Inc. said its Viasat-3 F1 Ka-band broadband satellite, whose large reflector antenna has not fully deployed, will enter commercial service over the Americas by mid-year with only 10% of its expected 1-Tbps of capacity available.
The identical Viasat-3 F2, which has spent the past year on the ground with antenna builder Northrop Grumman and satellite prime contractor Boeing Satellite Systems analyzing what went wrong and working on corrective action before it is launched over Europe, the Middle East and Africa . . .
