PARIS — Satellite broadband hardware and service provider Viasat Inc. signed an agreement with a Russian telco and a Russian satellite operator to provide in-flight-connectivity (IFC) in Russian airspace — a key piece of the puzzle for any IFC provider aiming for global reach.
Viasat described the announcement with Russia’s Gazprom Space Systems (GSS), which operates the Yamal-601 C- and Ka-band satellite from 49 degrees east; and with teleco TMC LLC as a “strategic MoU.”
