PARIS — The value of UK-based mobile satellite services provider Inmarsat to Viasat Inc. has been buoyed by the possibility of using Inmarsat’s L-band spectrum for direct satellite-to-smartphone connections.
Establishing links, even weak ones, between low-orbiting satellites and mass-produced smartphones is one of the most exciting ideas in the satcom world.
