PARIS — Startup satellite radar Earth observation constellation operator Umbra Lab Inc. plans the launch of its first two very-high-revolution X-band spacecraft this year, on separate launches, following an experimental license from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Umbra is taking advantage of a broad loosening of restrictions on the U.S. geospatial imagery sector that was decided by the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in May 2020. Umbra received its NOAA license in 2018.
