LA PLATA, Maryland — The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has rejected SpaceX Starlink’s application for $885.5 million in support to deploy satellite broadband, saying Starlink has not demonstrated it can meet the service requirements.
“We cannot afford to subsidize ventures that are not delivering the promised speeds or are not likely to meet program requirements,” FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said in an Aug. 10 statement.
Starlink had won an initial December 2020 auction under the FCC’s Rural Development Opportunity Fund . . .
