LA PLATA, Maryland — Satellite fleet operator Telesat said development of its $3.5-billion Lightspeed constellation of broadband satellites is on schedule and will require Telesat to anticipate spending up to 1.4 billion Canadian dollars ($1.02 billion) this year in capex.
Canada-based Telesat said it’s still negotiating with the Canadian Federal and Quebec governments about a $2 billion package that will assure the project is fully funded for the first 156 of its planned 198 satellites. The remaining 42 satellites would be funded . . .
