PARIS — British satellite-mission provider startup Open Cosmos in April raised 5 million British pounds ($7 million) in Series A financing from lead investor Business Growth Fund (BGF) Ventures and LocalGlobe, Entrepreneur First, Transferwise cofounder Taavet Hinrikus and Microsoft’s former head of corporate strategy, Charlie Songhurst.
Open Cosmos Chief Executive Rafael Jorda Siquier says he could have raised triple that amount but favors a step-by-step funding approach that does not get too far ahead of customer revenue.
