MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — The head of the U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA) acknowledged that SDA’s success in diversifying its supply base for satellite prime contractors and payload providers has not extended to lower-tier component manufacturers.
The result is possible delays in satellite deliveries, Derek Tournear said here Oct. 23 at Silicon Valley Space Week, organized by Satnews Events, but he expressed confidence that it was a short-term problem that will resolve itself “once we get the full marketplace built.”
