PARIS — Rocket builder Avio SpA is pushing its technical teams to pursue a mid-June launch of the Vega rocket, with 52 satellites from multiple customers, followed by an August Vega launch to partially catch up on the Vega vehicle’s delays.
Vega, for which Avio is prime contractor, suffered its first failure in July 2019 and has been grounded since then. Its scheduled late-March return to flight was cancelled as Europe’s Guiana Space Center spaceport shut down because of Covid-19 health concerns.
