UPDATE: PT Telkom on Aug. 30 said that after consulting with Telkom-1 builder Lockheed Martin, recovery efforts will cease and the satellite will be shut down.
"Based on intensive investigation that Telkom and satellite manufacturer Lockheed Martin conducted, Telkom 1 satellite will no longer be in operation and based on in-depth analysis, the satellite was not functioning as normal so that Lockheed Martin recommended to shut down the Telkom satellite operation to prevent interference with other satellites," the company said.
