LA PLATA, Maryland — Geospatial satellite imagery and analytics provider Planet Labs PBC is reducing its staff by 180 employees, or 17%, on behalf of its drive for profitability.
It was the second time in 12 months that Planet has proceeded with headcount reductions. In August 2023, it announced a 10% reduction in personnel, or 117 positions. That move was expected to cost $7.5 million in severance charges but to result in $35 million in annual cost reductions.
