PARIS — The Living Planet Symposium 2022 (LPS) organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) was a five-day plunge into what Earth observations can do do measure and mitigate the effects of climate change.
While much of it was self-congratulatory, it included, unusually, presentations of how the specialized Earth observation sector needs to exit its bubble and learn to engage with decision-makers on their terms — a skill far outside the comfort zone of most scientists.
