LOGAN, Utah – Three U.S. companies have joined forces to self-finance the launch of a lightweight cubesat-deorbiting technology demonstrator with the potential to scale for use on larger spacecraft.
The Dragracer mission is scheduled to launch on a commercial rideshare mission provided by New Zealand-based Rocket Lab in early 2020. The goal is to launch the 25-kg Raptor 12U cubesat to a 400-km orbit, where it will split into two 6U cubesats, including one carrying a timer and battery system to deploy a 250-meter tether . . .
