Maritime connectivity provider KVH manages costly transition from legacy to HTS satellite capacity

PARIS — Maritime satellite connectivity provider KVH Industries said its fast-growing, no-commitment subscriber offer is showing “near-zero” customer defections and that the company’s total VSAT product shipments increased 94% compared to 2017.

The company said its mobile connectivity business showed lower profitability in 2018 and will so so again in early 2019 as it gradually moves its business from conventional to high-throughput-satellite capacity.

KVH offers near-global coverage for maritime broadband and in late 2017 it introduced its HTS offer, mainly through HTS capacity . . .
