L3Harris looks to coming SDA satellite competition to gauge profitability of co’s five-year investment

TUPPER LAKE, NY — L3Harris Technologies Inc. is likely by early 2025 to get a fix on whether its five-year investment in satellite infrared technologies fitting U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA) requirements is going to be highly profitable.

SDA is preparing a request for bids on its Tranche 3 Tracking Layer satellites. The request for information from industry on the future contract, for 54 satellites and perhaps more, was sent out June 28, with responses due July 29.
