LA PLATA, Maryland — The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has agreed to provide frequency-coordination support to the 16-nation Southern African Development Community (SADC) as the group moves toward securing new frequency rights for coverage of their national territories.
SADC has agreed to coordinate its work though the government of Angola, which in the past has promoted its Russian- built AngoSat-2 satellite, operating from 23 degrees east in geostationary orbit, as one source for a multinational satellite broadcast effort.
