PARIS — Iridium Communications continued to resist being carried away by industry fervor surrounding direct-to-device (D2D) satellite connectivity but threw out a few numbers that did nothing to reverse it.
In a Feb. 16 investor call in which Iridium struggled to keep the focus on the company’s annual results — exceptional across the board, even in handset sales — Iridium Chief Executive Matt Desch said the unknowns outnumber the knowns when it comes to D2D.
