PARIS — PT Telkom Indonesia, confirming its ambition as a regional satellite-services power, has agreed to purchase 70% of Malaysian VSAT operator TS Global Network Sdn Bhd (TSGN) for $26.4 million pending approval of Malaysian government authorities.
The transaction, for 108.5 million Malaysian Ringgit, is one of numerous consolidation scenarios, large and small, that have long been called for in the Asian satellite communications market, where business logic is often set aside in favor of national autonomy.
