PARIS — The Japanese government has transferred responsibility for the construction and operation of a second-generation Epsilon smallsat launcher, Epsilon-S, to IHI Aerospace Co. Ltd. in an attempt to stimulate Japan’s space industrial base.
Epsilon-S is scheduled to make its inaugural flight in 2023. The mission is scheduled to carry Vietnam’s LotuSat-1 radar Earth observation satellite, under construction by Japan’s NEC Corp. as part of an export-credit loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. NEC said the 580 . . .
