CUNCY-LES-VARZY, France — EchoStar Corp.’s Hughes Network Systems is seeing the same problem in Latin America that it is confronting in the United States: Some satellite beams are filling up as Covid-related stay-at-home policies create a surge in unexpected demand.
The result in the United States has been a slow decline in subscribers but an increase in monthly subscriber revenue as customers take higher-end data packages and Hughes uses customer churn to keep total demand from creating a mediocre service for everyone.
