Hispasat, blocked from consolidation scenarios, battens down the hatches

PARIS — Spanish telecommunications satellite fleet operator Hispasat, facing the same market turbulence as other fleet owners plus a long-running soap opera about its ownership, reported increased revenue and profit in 2017 and is counting on a pause in investment after the launch of three satellites in the past year.

A modest — 2.7% — boost in total revenue given the upheaval in the fixed satellite services market is considered good these days. But the revenue from transponder capacity leases fell by nearly 4% during the year as Hispasat felt the pressure . . .
