LA PLATA, Maryland — European government and industry officials urged the European Commission to structure its future satellite intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance program in a way that does not sap commercial demand for geospatial data or otherwise disturb the civil Copernicus Earth observation constellation.
Industry officials specifically urged that the Earth Observation Government Service (EOGS) focus on purchasing data from Europe’s commercial sector rather than building government-owned satellites.
