PARIS — A French parliamentary committee said France is pretty much alone in Europe in viewing space-launch autonomy as a strategic necessity and needs to find a way to change the situation.
In a report by the National Assembly’s Committee on European Affairs on Europe’s space policy, and a Nov. 21 audition, the report’s authors also said the European Commission should be given more authority relative to the European Space Agency (ESA). ESA, the report said, should focus on its well-proven technical competencies and leave policymaking to the EU . . .
