PARIS — Established satellite fleet operators AsiaSat of Hong Kong, Malaysia’s Measat and Russian Satellite Communications Co. (RSCC) agreed that vertical integration — rural Wi-Fi, maritime connectivity and OTT — is necessary for them to offset the stagnation of their core video markets.
They also agreed that the LEO broadband constellations coming their way from the United States and Europe have not proved their business case, at least not in these companies’ markets.
Only one of them, RSCC, appears willing to commit the capex . . .
