LA PLATA, Maryland — Satellite fleet operator Eutelsat said it had reduced the capital cost of its second-generation OneWeb constellation of broadband satellites by about 30%, in part by a gradual phasing in of investment and a judicious use of new technologies partly financed by European Union governments.
Paris-based Eutelsat said it was prepared to take on additional debt for the Gen 2 work and likely would rely on export-credit-agency backing from India, Britain and France.
