Eutelsat: 48-hour global OneWeb outage New Year’s Eve due to ground network software not accounting for Leap Year

LA PLATA, Maryland — Eutelsat Group’s global OneWeb broadband satellite network went out of service for 48 hours on Dec. 31 in what the company said was its ground network’s failure to account for the fact that 2024 was a Leap Year.

In a Jan. 2 statement, Eutelsat said it “worked with the vendor to restore full service, while maintaining a constant dialogue with affected customers. The constellation is operating nominally once again.”
