BRUSSELS, Belgium — The European Investment Bank (EIB) agrees that Europe’s financial institutions — commercial banks, venture funds and government agencies including the EIB — have been too timid in investing in the space sector.
EIB officials promised that, in concert with the European Commission, the European Space Agency (ESA) and with the help of new financial instruments, it will do better, and soon, especially if the European Commission’s proposed seven-year spending plan 2021-2027 is approved by EU governments late this year.
