European Commission describes LEO constellation serving broadband access, QKD and milsatcom requrements

PARIS — European government officials provided details on a proposed constellation of low-orbiting satellites that would combine universal broadband access with secure government communications and the space component of a Quantum Communications Infrastructure.

In multiple presentations Dec. 8-9 during the EU Space Week event, it was clear that the idea remains either poorly defined or not yet understood. But it was also clear that, led by Commissioner Thierry Breton, the European Commission appears determined to push the idea forward
