LA PLATA, Maryland — About a dozen European launch startups are expected to respond to the European Space Agency (ESA) European Launcher Challenge (ELC), which holds out the promise of awarding up to 169 million euros ($183 million) for each successful bidder.
The ELC invitation to tender, issued March 24, sets a May 5 response deadline and divides the competition into two components.
