TUPPER LAKE, NY — Europe's satellite launch market has room for at most two new medium-lift rockets to compete with today’s Vega to launch 2,500-kilogram payloads to LEO and one heavy-lift vehicle to compete with Ariane 6 to launch 15,000 kilograms, according to the European Space Agency (ESA).
The market assessment comes as ESA begins reviewing business plans from the most promising European launcher startups for how they will establish profitable operations and then scale up their vehicles to compete with Ariane 6.
