PARIS — Europe’s Galileo and Egnos positioning, navigation and timing network faces key decisions this year about the completion of its architecture and the design of a second-generation system.
Accommodating Brexit rules into the Galileo supply chain, long planned, takes effect on Feb. 1. Not planned was the system modification made necessary by the nearly week-long Galileo outage in July. Also unforeseen was what looks like a 20% cut to the European Commission’s 2021-2027 Galileo/Egnos budget.
