PARIS — Deutsche Telekom (DT), one of the most active telcos exploring the use of high-altitude platforms (HAPS) to fill gaps in connectivity, advised HAPS developers Aalto and Sceye that the cost of their future service cannot be much more than today’s terrestrial wireless plans.
Antje Williams, responsible for non-terrestrial networks inside DT’s technology group, and a member of the HAPS Alliance board, reiterated the company’s interest in the technology for multiple use cases - if the costs are right.
