MILAN — French startup Constellation Technologies & Operations has received 9.3 million euros ($10.2 million) in funding to design a satellite broadband network in very low Earth orbit using terrestrial 5G wireless spectrum licensed by telcos.
Constellation’s business resembles a direct-to-device play but instead of providing connectivity between satellites and smartphones, it would furnish participating telcos with connectivity for fixed and mobile communications with specialized antennas.
