PARIS — Satellite ground equipment manufacturer Comtech Telecommunications Corp.’s purchase of satellite hardware provider Gilat Satellite Networks will generate almost zero synergies and result in no layoffs but will give Comtech a more-complete portfolio in the growing satellite communications business, company officials said.
Comtech and Gilat offer complementary product lines and expect the combined company to address cellular backhaul and the potentially large GEO- and LEO-orbit satcom markets. Israel-based Gilat will be able to use Comtech’s sales force to get access to the U.S . . .
