LA PLATA, Maryland —The French government, which has invested 400 million euros ($414 million) in four small-launcher companies that will enter the competition for the European Launcher Challenge (ELC), remains unclear on how ELC will be managed and what financing it will provide, the interim president of the French space agency, CNES, said Jan. 21.
Lionel Suchet, who was named interim president after his predecessor, Philippe Baptiste, was named research minister in France’s new government, said negotiations with the 23-nation European Space Agency (ESA) on ELC details are ongoing.
