Belgium’s Aerospacelab building ‘megafactory’ for up to 500 satellites/year designed for diverse customer set

PARIS — Startup geospatial imagery constellation operator Aerospacelab of Belgium, with Belgian regional government support, is building a 16,000-square-meter “megafactory” to produce up to 500 satellites per year for Earth observation and communications constellations.

Production is scheduled to start in early 2025.

Aerospacelab has raised a total of 51 million euros ($53 million) and for now it will be the anchor customer for the new plant, located in Charleroi and backed by the city’s Venture Capital Sambrinvest.
