PARIS — AST SpaceMobile, which is building a constellation of low-orbiting satellites to provide broadband links directly to unmodified smart phones, said testing of its demonstration satellite, BlueWalker-3, remains on track for a summer launch with SpaceX.
AST Chief Executive Abel Avellan said the company’s testing regime for BlueWalker-3 has been exhaustive enough that even a launch failure would not affect the scheduled deployment of the commercial BlueBird constellation of larger satellites.
