PARIS — Airbus’s Defence and Space division reported a 44.8% decline in pretax profit for 2022 on charges for the loss of two high-resolution optical imaging satellites in a December launch failure and the continued delay in the commercial introduction of the Ariane 6 heavy-lift launcher.
The decline in adjusted EBIT, or earnings before interest and taxes — to 384 million euros in 2022 from 696 million in 2021 — was also ascribed to the effects of inflation, Airbus said.
