PARIS — Satellite builder Airbus Defence and Space is worried that a reorganization of the satellite fleet operator landscape following the Viasat acquisition of Inmarsat could mean further vertical integration of the sector.
Jean-Marc Nasr, head of Airbus Space Systems, said that while no one else may imitate SpaceX in taking verticalization to the extreme — building, launching and operating its own Starlink fleet — the Viasat-Inmarsat deal could lead to further mergers and acquisitions.
