A Q2 2018 dip in smallsat launches, but many missions and new vehicles are imminent

LOGAN, Utah — The smallsat industry has its ups and downs and the the 41 satellites launched between April and June 2018 was a sharp drop from the 63 launched between January and March and the lowest quarterly total since Q3 2016, according to data from Britain's Satellite Applications Catapult.

The 41 Q2 satellites were placed into orbit with 10 missions, including the July 13 launch of Northrop Grumman’s Antares rocket carrying a Cygnus freighter with supplies for the International Space Station (ISS).
