PARIS — The UK Defence Ministry’s selection of a team led by Babcock Integrated Technology, and including SES and Intelsat, to manage Britain’s Skynet military satellite telecommunications system suggests the ministry really is interested in something new.
The six-year contract, called Skynet Service Delivery Wrap, is valued at 400 million British pounds ($486.6 million). The Babcock group will manage the current Skynet fleet of UHF- and X-band satellites, and the coming Skynet 6A satellite, under construction by Airbus . . .
