PARIS — Airbus Group booked an impairment penalty against its H1 2022 earnings because of delays in development of the Ariane 6 heavy-lift rocket, and said launch-service provider Arianespace is in negotiations with customers over prepayments made to Arianespace for Russian Soyuz launches that may never occur.
Arianespace had sold Soyuz launches to the European Commission and the French Defense Ministry and, especially, to the OneWeb commercial broadband constellation operator, which prepaid for five Soyuz launches that have been cancelled.
