PARIS — The launch of Malaysia’s Measat-3D satellite into geostationary-transfer orbit is the latest example of how Southeast Asian governments are pursuing their promise of universal broadband in advance of the arrival of low-orbit constellations that also promise to close the digital divide.
Malaysian satellite operator Measat has said it will count not only on government support but also on its local experience to keep customers as it expands its reach to Malaysia’s suburban and rural areas.
