PARIS — The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which is known for handing out “force majeure” satellite deadline extensions like airlines pass out free peanuts, now appears to be putting its foot down.
The ITU’s Radio Regulations Board (RRB) had warned satellite operators and their national administrations in 2021 that there was a limit to what it would accept, anticipating that operators the world over would lay any and all delays at the feet of the Covid pandemic.
That has proved correct.
