PARIS — A high-ranking Saudi telecommunications regulator said the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) needs to pay immediate attention to the risk of satellite overcrowding and debris accumulation in low Earth orbit.
In Sept. 15 remarks to the ITU Digital World forum, the Saudi regulator said the rise of mega-constellations in low Earth orbit poses the risk of denying access to LEO and radio spectrum by making it impossible for late arrivals to operate there safely and sustainably.
