Arianespace’s OneWeb launches in Russia not affected by US sanctions, but other Soyuz commercial missions at risk

PARIS— U.S. government sanctions against commercial space launches from Russia will not affect OneWeb’s first-generation constellation because these satellites have already received U.S. government approvals for exports to Russia, a OneWeb spokesperson said March 17.

OneWeb’s constellation has been reduced to less than 600 in-orbit satellites, now being launched in groups of up to 36 aboard Russian Soyuz rockets operating from Russian spaceports under a contract with Europe’s Arianespace launch service provider.
