PARIS — French regulators have approved Inmarsat’s use of a network of ground stations to augment the performance of its S-band satellite in-flight-connectivity service, dealing a blow to competitors ViaSat and Eutelsat.
The decision by France’s ARCEP electronic-communications authority gives Inmarsat the last crucial piece of geographic coverage for its European Aviation Network (EAN).
Inmarsat will use the network of about 300 ground stations stationed throughout the European Union to improve the performance of its S-EAN satellite, which was launched in June 2017 . . .
