French Guiana opens public comment on environmental impact of multi-launcher site; bats and frogs in the limelight

LA PLATA, Maryland — Local authorities in French Guiana have opened a 30-day public inquiry on the planned multi-launcher launch site to be located on the Guiana Space Center, on the northeast coast of South America.

The public has until March 18 to comment on a voluminous environmental impact statement produced by the French space agency, CNES, which has authority over the proposed installation, called the Ensemble de Lancement de Multi-Lanceurs, or ELM.
