EU security chief, Dutch defense minister say attacks on space assets should trigger mutual-defense obligations

BRUSSELS — The EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy said her office is working to include retaliatory actions against nations that destroy or disrupt EU satellites as part of the future European Space Shield.

She also said Article 42.7 of the European Union Treaty, which calls for action by the entire EU bloc if one of its members is attacked, “would apply also to an attack in space or against space infrastructure.”
